Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a clinically researched form of therapy that has proven to be highly effective for those who have experienced trauma.

During a traumatic event, our brain processes and stores information incorrectly. This can make those past experiences feel very present. Our emotional health is intertwined with our physical state. Therefore, EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation (tapping, buzzers, or eye movements) to heal our brains trauma response and to allow our body to be more congruent and functional. Upon completion of EMDR therapy, clients are able to live in a newfound peace and freedom from marking moments of the past.

EMDR is not hypnosis or a form of meditation. It does not conflict with Biblical truth. If you want to, we can pray before and/or after sessions, and invite Jesus into the healing process.

EMDR is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma-related issues by many US and International accrediting organizations. Among them are:

  • The American Psychiatric Association
  • The VA and Department of Defense
  • World Health Organization
