Emily grew up in the Midwest and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1997 to climb mountains and attend CSU, where she received her BS in Psychology. From there she followed her passion for learning more about how nutrition affects our overall health, and therefore pursued a season of Wellness Coaching. Eventually, Emily became hungry for more insight into human behavior so that she could help others with their brokenness, strongholds, and struggles. This led her to pursue her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University.
I, Emily, see everyone as a beautiful creation made in the image of God, yet unsure how to live in this truth. We all strive to grow, evolve, make meaning of our lives, and become more fully developed and capable, which ultimately forms the basis of our lifestyle and personality style. Our views about others, the world, and ourselves lead to distinctive behaviors that we adopt in pursuit of our life goals. Therefore, we all need encouragement to correct mistaken perceptions of self and others and learn to initiate new behavioral interaction patterns. Cognitive restructuring plays a central role in my approach, in which I help my clients see that they have the capacity to find their own solutions to difficulties they face and are the experts of their own lives.
