Steve Scifres, MA, LPC
Steve completed his Master of Arts degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling/Therapy at UNC in May of 2019.
He completed his Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with Minors in Child/Family Studies and Statistics, at the University of Wyoming where he was in athletics. Steve integrates twenty years of involvement on teams with group dynamics into the counseling process.
He has experience working with individuals, as well as couples and families in a therapeutic setting. Throughout his educational process, he has emphasized couples counseling, and is a Gottman Level 1 trained therapist. In addition to couples and family work, Steve has experience with:
- Mood disorders (depression and anxiety)
- Neuro-developmental disorders (ADHD)
- Play therapy
- Suicide prevention
- Parenting challenges,
- Trauma work
- Addictions
For over fourteen years, Steve served as a middle and high school youth leader. He currently attends the Windsor Vineyard Church and was actively involved in church leadership from 1998-2014. Steve discovered his passion for counseling while co-leading youth ministry and leading small groups with his wife of twenty years. They have four wonderful children and a “small zoo” of pets. His desire is to help families, couples, and individuals forge new “pathways” in their lives and to recover “lost territory”.
